How does the exterior paint visualizer work?
Upload one photo of the front of your house, choose what to paint (the whole house, just the siding, the trim, the front door, the roof or painted brick) and pick real paint colors for each surface. In about 30 to 45 seconds you get the same photo back with only those surfaces repainted, and a slider to compare before and after.
Will it change my windows, roof or landscaping?
It is not supposed to. Every render is told to keep the camera angle, the shape of the house, every window, door and railing, the trees, the lawn, the cars and the sky exactly as they are, and to change only the surfaces you picked. If something moves or changes anyway, tap "Something changed that shouldn't have?" under the result and we add a render back to your account so you can try again on us.
How accurate are the colors on screen?
Close enough to choose between options, not close enough to skip a sample. Every screen shows color a little differently, and paint on a real wall changes with daylight, shade and sheen. Use the visualizer to narrow it down to two or three colors, then buy samples and look at them on your house at different times of day.
Which paint brands can I try?
Popular exterior colors from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr (sold at The Home Depot) and Valspar (sold at Lowe's) are built in, with their names and codes so you can copy them for the store. For any other brand, open Custom and type the hex value from that color's page. We are not affiliated with any paint company; the names and codes belong to their owners.
What kind of photo works best?
Stand across the street and get the whole front of the house in the frame, straight on if you can. Daylight works best, and a bright overcast day is even better because there are no hard shadows. Avoid photos where trees or cars hide most of the walls. The photo needs to be at least 1000 pixels on its long side; any recent phone photo is.
Is it free?
You can try 2 renders free: one right away and one more after you add your email. After that, the Project Pass is $9.99 once for 25 renders and clean HD downloads of every render, including the free ones. There is no subscription and the renders do not expire. Popular schemes on the sample houses are always free.
Why we built this
Every big paint company has a visualizer, and they share the same problem. You either paint a stock house that looks nothing like yours, or you trace every wall and window of your own photo by hand. Either way, you still don't know what your house will look like.
So we built the tool we wanted: one photo, real paint colors, and the same house back in under a minute. It does one job, repainting the outside of your house, and it is built to leave everything else alone.
